About Mother of Strays
Mother of Strays was started by Moumita with a simple belief: every dog deserves healthy, natural food — not just pets in homes, but also the countless street dogs that share our cities.
What began as a personal effort to feed stray dogs during the pandemic, soon grew into something much bigger. Today, through Mother of Strays, we provide natural, affordable and species-appropriate food for dogs across India.
Our Story
Moumita’s journey started in Mumbai with feeding a few stray dogs in the neighbourhood. Over time, that small effort grew into a daily commitment to care for more and more dogs. In 2024, Moumita met Ashish who was caring for 60 dogs on the roads of Gurgaon. We got married and shifted to Gurgaon.
Today we:
• Feed 250+ stray dogs every day on the road
• Care for 130 rescued Indie dogs at our farm
• Support feeders who help street dogs across India
Through this journey, we realized something important.
Most commercial dog food is designed for convenience, not for the biological needs of dogs.
Dogs evolved as carnivores and thrive on simple, natural, high-protein foods.
That realization became the foundation of Mother of Strays.
Why We Started Making Dog Food
When feeding hundreds of dogs every day, we faced a challenge:
Healthy dog food available in the market was often too expensive, filled with preservatives, or loaded with unnecessary fillers.
We wanted food that was:
• Natural
• Affordable
• High in protein
• Free from preservatives and fillers
So we started making it ourselves.
What began as food for the dogs we feed soon became something other dog lovers wanted too.
That is how Mother of Strays meal mixes, dehydrated grainfree treats and biscuits were born.
What Makes Our Food Different
Our food is based on one simple philosophy:
Dogs should eat food that resembles their natural diet.
That means:
• High protein
• Minimal processing
• No artificial preservatives
• No unnecessary fillers
Our treats are made from single-ingredient meats like chicken feet, necks and wings, gently dehydrated to preserve nutrition while making them safe and shelf stable.
